An Evening with Concert Pianist Sam Rotman

Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Modesto California warmly invites you to a special evening with Sam Rotman, a distinguished concert pianist whose life’s work has been marked by both artistic excellence and Christian conviction. Trained at The Juilliard School, where he earned both his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees, Mr. Rotman went on to become a Laureate Winner of the 4th International Beethoven Competition in Vienna and has given more than 3,400 performances in 62 countries around the world.

Mr. Rotman is especially known for his love of Beethoven, to whose music he has devoted a significant part of his concert life for decades. His performances have taken him to renowned halls such as Carnegie Recital Hall in New York, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Grand Hall of the Conservatoire in Moscow, reflecting a career of unusual breadth, discipline, and distinction.

This evening is not only an opportunity to hear exceptional classical piano, but also to welcome a man whose music has long been joined to a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ. After being raised in a deeply religious Jewish home, Mr. Rotman came to faith in Christ while studying at Juilliard, and since then he has sought to use his gifts in a way that honors the Lord and serves the gospel.

In May 2016, Mr. Rotman received an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from The Master’s University. The university described this recognition in connection with his commitment to Christ, his love for Scripture, and his desire to use his musical gifts for the glory of God and the spread of the gospel. He is also noted as the only recipient of such an honorary doctorate in the school’s history.
